A Fiesta that has been declared of Regional Interest to Tourists.
Easter in Ponferrada is a clear example of tradition and religious fervour. In the year 1400 there is evidence of the founding of the Brotherhood of los Palmeros, which disappeared later, and the Brotherhood of Vera Cruz which joined the Third Order in the Chapel of Saint Antonio del Campo.
The Brotherhood of Jesús Nazareno. was born in the Chapel of El Carmen around the year 1650. Later on the Brotherhood of Jesús del Silencio (1944) is born under the protection of the Parish of Saint Pedro (1994); it is linked to a silent and multitudinous procession that takes place on Easter Wednesday and the Brotherhood of Santiago (1990) from the parish Flores del Sil.
The "Nazareno Lambrión Chupacandiles" rings a small bell along the streets of the town so as to announce that Easter is coming. Easter events are officially presented by a person who inaugurates the activities in the theatre Bérgidum.

Besides the religious celebrations, people usually drink the typical “limonada”that is carefully prepared in cafeterías and cellars.

Domingo de Ramos: popular "Procesión de los Ramos" por la Puebla. Iglesia de San Pedro.
Lunes Santo: partiendo de la Basílica de la Encina y acompañando al Cristo de la Esperanza, Viacrucis por el medieval barrio de S. Andrés.
Martes Santo : Procesión de la Cofradía de Santiago. Flores del Sil.
Miércoles Santo: "Procesión del Silencio" en la Puebla.
Jueves Santo: visita a las iglesias. Procesión de la Santa Cena.
Viernes Santo: de madrugada "Procesión de El Encuentro" entre la Madre Dolorosa y el Nazareno. "Sanjuanín" corre entre las cabezas de la muchedumbre. Por la tarde "Procesión del Santo Entierro". Casco Antiguo
Sábado Santo: "Procesión de la Virgen de la Soledad" y el canto de la Salve. Tiene lugar por la noche y en el casco antiguo, frente a la iglesia de San Andrés.
Domingo de Resurrección: Procesiones de El Santísimo Sacramento y La Patrona del Bierzo al son de las campanas de la Basílica de la Encina.
